The Run

“Rosa Run”

The “Rosa Run” started on the 1st Anniversary of Dave’s death. A handful of Long Beach Firefighters spoke about meeting at the location where Dave was murdered, at the exact time the incident took place, and running all the way to the training center, that’s now named after him. They also stop by Station 10, where Dave last worked, on the way.

The group ran with an American flag that became symbolic of taking our Brother from where he was shot, and carrying him back “home”.

This tradition grew every year, and included participation from Dave’s Father, and family. Some people began participating on bicycles.

Details of the Run

The run is approximately 5 miles long, and takes about 1.5-2hrs to complete (including the stops).

5am: Meet at the Captain Rosa Training Center to be shuttled down to 4th St & Atlantic Ave.

530am: The Run (or Bike) begins. There is a chase vehicle for safety and the Station’s areas that the group run through are met by the crew and fire engine, escorting them safely through.

The runners will stop by Station 10, then continue on to the Training Center, which is the final destination.
